Minjee Lee’s quest for a No. 1 world ranking is on track as she leads the LPGA Tour’s LA Open by a shot through two rounds at Wilshire Country Club.
Lee, the world No. 4, added a 69 to her opening 66 to reach seven-under and take the lead into the weekend.
She holed a wedge from just beyond 100 metres at the par-four 14th hole to seize the lead.
“Out of all the ones that I have been close to making, I think that's the only one that I actually saw like drop into the hole,” said Lee. “It was pretty cool to see it happen for the first time.”
Another Western Australian, Hannah Green, is tied for fifth after a second-round 73 spoiled by three dropped shots in the last two holes.
