Helen Pascoe has finished off a fantastic week at Tocumwal in style, claiming the Victorian Women’s Country Championship for the first time.

Pascoe’ title adds to her Foursomes win from Monday and Betty Kernot win from yesterday.

It took 17 holes for Pascoe to defeat Elizabeth Lacey in the final after both were impressive in their semi-final victories.

Pascoe, after qualifying in top position, played Lauren Higgins in the first of two semi-finals.

Higgins took the early advantage, finding herself one-up through the first 7 holes before wins on 8 and 9 for Pascoe gave her a 1-up lead at the turn.

Higgins would not give up, taking the game all the way to the final hole, but with Pascoe 1-up on the 18th tee, a halved hole would prove good enough for Pascoe to book her spot in the final.

In the other semi-final, Elizabeth Lacey played some sensational golf on her way to a 4/3 victory over Rebecca Thomas.

Lacey’s round included a 120m hole-out for eagle on the third and a brilliant birdie on 14 after catching a lucky break, ricocheting off Thomas’s ball and going in the hole.

After a quick bite to eat, Pascoe and Lacey headed back out on the Captains course to determine who would be the 2019 Victorian Women’s Country Champion.

Lacey continued her early morning form, winning the first two holes and getting the jump on her more fancied opponent.

However, Pascoe soon clicked into gear, winning the next three holes to put a firm grasp on the match.

Despite getting back to square with four holes to go, Lacey couldn’t finish off her day going down on the 17th to lose 2/1.
