Golf Queensland is pleased to announce the 2017 Queensland Boys’ & Girls’ Interstate Teams to contest the Australian Interstate Teams Matches in April.
Each team will see three new faces making their representative debuts, with the championship heading to New South Wales.
The girls’ team of Darcy Habgood, Lisa Edgar and Rhianna-Maree Lewis, will be joined by Cassie Porter, Isabelle Taylor and Sarah Wilson to play Port Kembla Golf Club from 9-11th April. The team will be coached by Virginia Irwin.
The boys’ team is set to welcome Mitchell Varley, Tyler Duncan and Zachary Maxwell, joining Jediah Morgan, Joel Shahlhut, and Louis Dobbelaar to play Riverside Oaks Golf Club from 10-13th April. The team will be coached by Chris Gibson.
The Queensland teams are hoping to go one better on last year’s result with both teams placing second in Tasmania. This year will be a smooth transition for Varley, Maxwell, and Taylor, joining the teams after travelling as development players last year.
Two male and female development players have also been selected to travel with their respective Junior State Teams to compete in the Australian Junior Amateur Championship. The development squad includes Ben Stieler, Lewis Hoath, Karen Kim and Isabelle Simpson.
The Australian Boys’ & Girls’ Interstate Teams Matches are Australia’s premier Junior Amateur Team Golf Championships. Each State and Territory is represented by six players with five players contesting singles match play, each round in a round robin format.
