Rd 2 Pennant Wrap – Women�s A1 �Sanderson Cup�

Royal Adelaide and The Grange, remain undefeated after the opening two rounds of the ‘Sanderson Cup’ after matches were played in perfect conditions at Mount Osmond Golf Club.

The home side accounted for Blackwood 3-2, but had to fight hard to comeback and win the contest, after Blackwood went two up early, through wins to Paula White 2up and Sally Graham 3&1.

However, Mount Osmond’s top three managed to get the job done, with Rebecca Nolan 3&2, Nayoung Ku 5&3 and Rachel Taylor 3&1 all winning to secure the points for Mount Osmond.

Royal Adelaide were big winners against Kooyonga 3.5-1.5 getting their season off to a flying start.

Nothing could separate the number five match between Julie Michelmore and Melissa Nelligan resulting in a halve, but Anne Ellis 2up, Juliet Hugo 4&3 and Sophie Hilditch 7&6 all had wins for Royal, to secure the points.

Despite the contest already decided Kooyonga’s number one Lyn McGough defeated Caitlin Peirce 1up to secure a valuable point, wtih teams now striving to finish top four.

In the match of the round The Grange defeated Glenelg 4-1. Glenelg’s number five Matilda Wheare had the first win of the contest 2&1, but The Grange proved too strong winning the top four matches all by a close margin. Louise Glennon 2&1, Caitlin Roberts 3&1, Jin-young Yun 1up, Ella Adams 3&1.

After a week off for the Queens Birthday holiday weekend, matches resume at The Grange on Sunday 17 June with the home side playing Blackwood front up against Royal Adelaide and Glenelg play Kooyonga
