Shannon Matthews (Tanunda Pines GC) has taken out the 2016 Golf SA Sand Greens Championship, by seven strokes ahead of Phil Chapman from Mount Barker-Hahndorf.
Partnered by MGA Insurance Brokers and played at the Hamley Bridge Golf Club, 92 players competed across the 13-14 August weekend.
In the A-Grande, Matthews posted a 2-under par opening round of 68 to trail Kevin Frick from The Grange by one stroke after 18 holes.
In the second round, Matthews was unstoppable, firing a course-record 8-under 62, to finish 10-under for the Championship, claiming the title in a canter.
Chapman finished runner-up on 3-under (69-68) on a count back from past multiple winner Jim Wheeler (68-69) from Kadina.
Best Nett Aggregate was taken out by Kevin Frick from The Grange Golf Club with a nett 132.
In the Allen Hurst Trophy (B Grade Championship) for players with handicaps 13.0-27.4, John Daulby (Pt Vincent GC) with a handicap of 16, claimed the title with rounds of 86 & 80 (+26).
Runner Up one stroke behind was Lindsey McFarlane (Parndana), 82-85 (+27). Best Nett Aggregate went to Rick Wendland (West Lakes) Nett 128.
