Today, the Isuzu Queensland Open welcomed athletes from Special Olympics Queensland for an all abilities clinic with tour player Ray Beaufils and Golf Australia Development Officer, Scott Simons. Working with the Professional players, seven lucky participants were able to participate in group activities, watch and learn swing and putting techniques, and receive one-on-one coaching.
Breaking down the session into two, the first half saw the group learning about practice and how they can improve while working on the driving range. The second session saw athletes testing their putting skills on the 18th green.
Beaufils advised the group to ‘Always have a routine and practice that, every single time.’ He also added participants should, change up their targets when practicing to ‘keep it interesting and fun.’
Today’s clinic aimed to introduce golfers from Special Olympics Queensland to the world of professional golf and the commitment needed to make it on tour. Further it was an opportunity for these athletes to come together, hit some golf balls and learn some new skills from two dedicated PGA Professionals.
