2008 Queen Sirikit Cup team selected

The nation&aposs number one ranked player, Cecilia Nha (QLD) has been selected to represent Australia at the Queen Sirikit Cup alongside compatriots Kristie Smith (WA) and Stephanie Na (SA). Played from March 3-5 at Victoria Golf & Country Club in Kandy, Sri Lanka, the tournament is one of the major women’s international events with 14 nations competing including Australia, China, Chinese-Taipei, Hong Kong, India, Indonesia, Japan, Korea, Malaysia, New Zealand, Philippines, Singapore, Sri Lanka and Thailand. The Queen Sirikit Cup is a three-round event. Each day the two best scores of the three team members count for the team&aposs score. The winner is the team with the lowest overall score after the three days of play. Korea goes into the event as defending champion and will once again be a formidable team to overhaul. It will be Nha&aposs first experience in the Asia Pacific event, unlike her team mates who were both part of the squad that travelled to the Philippines earlier this year. All members of the Australian team have had significant international experience throughout 2007 which will stand them in good stead for the 2008 Queen Sirikit Cup. The team will be coached by Ian Triggs (QLD) and the Captain is Sharon Dawson (WA).
