2009-The year ahead

Tim Clark s victory at The Australian Open in December capped a wonderful year of golf which included Karrie Webb being crowned champion at the Women’s Australian Open at Kingston Heath in February. And 2009 promises to be an even bigger year. The Australian Men’sMid-Amateur Championship kicks off the action in late January at The National Golf Club with all three courses being used for the first time. From there it s on to The Metropolitan Golf Club in Melbourne from February 12 to 15 where Karrie Webb and Katherine Hull will be among a host of international stars to fight it out for the Patricia Bridges Cup at the 2009 Women’s Australian Open. The Srixon Australian Amateur Championship at Royal Queensland Golf Club highlights a jam-packed March with the Men’sand Women’s Stroke Play events also in Queensland and the Trans-Tasman Cup will be fought out at Royal Canberra Golf Club. April s action includes the Boys and Girls Amateur Championships and Interstate Teams Matches. The month of May hosts the Men’sSenior Amateur Championship at Bribie Island Golf Club. After a short break, we turn for home with a hectic September at Peninsula Country Golf Club- host to the Men’sand Women’s Interstate Team s Matches while Keysborough Golf Club hosts the Colts. The activity continues in October with the Men’sSenior Match Play Championship while the Australian Women’s Senior and Mid-Amateur Championships head west to Royal Fremantle Golf Club. All eyes will be on New South Wales Golf Club as the year draws to a close with the world s best ready to fight out the 2009 Men’sAustralian Open.
