Thursday 16 September 2011 It was another gorgeous day at Bonville Golf Resort, Coffs Harbour, for the second and final day of play in the 2011 KENO NSW Mixed Fourball Championship State Final. With a fantastic second round score of 43 to match their first day score of 46, day one leaders Albert and Kerry Davis from Wentworth Falls Golf Club managed to hold onto their lead and take the title by two points. Runners up were David Kirby and Joanne Hitchens from Killara Golf Club, finishing with 43 and 44 for 87 total. Just one point further behind and finishing third overall was Colin and Sharyn Wood from Stonebridge Golf Club, shooting 44 and 42 for 86. It was a fantastic two days of play for all competitors, with the course in outstanding condition, and the weather superb. Congratulations to all those who participated in the event. Full Results Prize Winners Wednesday 15 September 2011 It was a fabulous morning at Bonville Golf Resort, Coffs Harbour, for the first day of play in the 2011 KENO NSW Mixed Fourball Championship State Final. There was great spirit and camaraderie amongst all of the 80 finalists, many of whom had travelled from far and wide, and were just looking forward to two days of golf on a spectacular golf course. At the end of 18-holes two pairs lead the field, both shooting a great score of 46 – Wentworth Falls duo, Albert and Kerry Davis, and Simon and Anna Park from Oatlands Golf Club. Hot on their heels are Colin and Sharyn Wood from Stonebridge with 44, David Kirby and Joanne Hutchens (Killara) with 43, and Nick and Helen Sollazzo from Hurstville on 42. Bathurst couple Colin and Dianne Hope finished with 40, while a number of pairs finished the day on 38, and are still in contention for the title. Tomorrow s draw will be seeded, and all finalists will play another round of 18-holes to determine the 2011 KENO NSW Mixed Fourball State Champions. Full Results Draw Day 2 Pre-event article The State Final of the 19th Keno NSW Mixed Fourball Championship will take place at Bonville Golf Resort in Coffs Harbour on Wednesday 14th and Thursday 15th September 2011. It’s a long road to the final, with over 8,500 players competing in over 200 club qualifying rounds since January. From there, district play-offs narrowed it down to 20 metropolitan and 20 country pairs to contest the State Final. State Finalists The State Final is 36-hole stableford (two rounds of 18-holes). This unique and exciting event pulls together finalists from all corners of the state ranging from the social golfer to the more serious competitor. Nonetheless, all have made it to the State Final, and will compete for the title of 2011 NSW Keno Mixed Fourball Champions. The pairs playing in the final of this tournament have had an amazing journey, from qualifiers at the start of the year, to making it right through to the final it’s a real achievement. “It’s going to be a fantastic couple of days of golf and a great atmosphere to boot , remarked Graeme Phillipson, General Manager of Golf at Golf NSW. Activities will kick off on Tuesday 13th September with a welcome BBQ for the players before they take to the course on Wednesday and Thursday. The event will conclude with a presentation dinner on Thursday night to reward players for their efforts and to provide a festive finale to a fantastic event.
