2011 NSW Mixed Foursomes Championship

7 August 2011 It was a thrilling finish in the 2011 NSW Mixed Foursomes Championship, held at New Brighton Golf Club today. At the end of play two pairs, Callan O Reilly (Pennant Hills) & Olivia Wilson (New South Wales) and youngsters Tony Jung (Strathfield) & Shelly Shin (Concord) led the field, both teams finishing the day with 74. This meant a sudden-death play-off. It was the experience of O Reilly and Wilson that ultimately secured them the victory, winning 6/4 on the first play-off hole. It was a surprising victory, the pair just meeting face-to-face for the first time this morning. However the partnership proved a success, with both playing exceptionally well around the challenging course. Olivia Wilson & Callan O&aposReilly, 2011 NSW Mixed Foursomes Champions Runners-up, Jung and Shin, also played consistently and are definitely players to look out for in the future. In third position were Jake Higginbottom (The Australian) and Cathleen Santoso (The Lakes), the pair, both Australian representatives, finishing the day two behind the leaders on 76. In the nett event it was a fantastic score of 68 from Lance Greenshields (Hurstville) & Corinne Kim (Lane Cove) which saw them take the title. Runners-up were Andrew Marsh (Cabramatta) & Monica Chester (Cabramatta) with 73.5, while third place getters were Charlie & Julie Bevan (Belmont) finishing on 74.5. Over 100 competitors contested the event today. Despite overnight rain, the morning was clear and crisp and the course in very good condition. Congratulations to all those who participated. RESULTS PRIZE WINNERS IMAGE GALLERY Images 5 August 2011 Over 100 competitors will contest the 2011 NSW Mixed Foursomes Championship, being held at New Brighton Golf Club this Sunday 7 August 2011. The Championship was open to men with a handicap limit of 18, and women with a handicap limit of 36. It is foursomes stroke play over 18 holes, with females playing from the first tee.
