2012 Boys & Girls Championships Finals

Finals 

Julienne Soo from Woodlands Golf Club and Tony Jung from Riversdale Golf Club have completed a long week of golf as victors in the Girls and Boys Championships of Victoria respectively.

Julienne made the Final of the the Girls Championship last year and 12 months later has claimed the victory she was denied by Rio Watanabe in 2011. Tony has taken out his first major event since moving to Victoria from New South Wales at the start of 2012.

Before the start of the 36 Hole Boys and Girls Championship Final Julienne Soo and Su-Hyun Oh had to finish their Semi Final Match.
Soo had Oh dormie with two holes to play, they teed off at 6:45am and Oh won the first hole before Soo won the second and the match.

Tom Couling from Commonwealth Golf Club and Tony Jung went through the turn with Jung two up and through 18 Jung was three up.
In the Girls Championship Montana Strauss and Julienne Soo made the turn with Strauss two up.
Soo then fought back hard to finish the first 18 holes 1 up.

Play was halted early in the day due to lightining and resumed approximately 45 minutes later.
The wet and blustery conditions continued throughout the course of the day.

Soo and Strauss went to the 35th hole before Soo won 2/1 in what was described as a great battle.
In the Boys Championship Jung and Couling (who played in the 2010 Final) went all the way to the 34th hole where Jung won 3/2. 

In the U16 Girls Championship Olivia Lewis from the Heritage won her match against Cheerie Tan from Yarra Yarra 5/4
The U16 Boys Final was also won convincingly with Blake Collyer from Metropolitan Golf Club taking out his first title against with a 5/4 winagainst the experienced Shane Feldman from Yarra Yarra.  

In the U14 Girls Championship Soo Bin Park from Kingswood Golf Club defeated Shanaiah Fernando from Yarra Yarra 8/6 and in the U14 Boys Championship Konrad Ciupek from Victoria Golf Club defeated Kasey Cathcart 5/3 and in doing so adds his name for the second time in a row to the U14 Boys Championship Trophy.

Semi Finals

The Eastern Golf Course proved to be an unrelenting challenge today. A combination of high winds and hard greens meant a good short game was the key to victory! Highlights included young 14 year old Tony Jung from Riversdale GC qualifying for the Boys Final, a super effort at such a young age. A semi final result is still to be finalised against Su-Hyun Oh and Julienne Soo, play will commence early tomorrow morning.

The Boys & Girls Championship Final will begin at 8am tomorrow and the U14 & U16 Championship Finals will begin tomorrow at midday at Riversdale GC.

Quarter Finals

13 year old Kono Matsumoto from Victoria Golf Club pushed National Junior Squad member Su Hyun Oh from Metropolitan GC to the 18th hole in a match she will remember always in the Quarter Finals held at Eastern Golf Club this morning.

The second qualifying round of the Victorian Boys and Girls Championship was held at Heidelberg Golf Club today.
Players enjoyed excellent weather conditions after high winds troubled players during the first round.
The highlight of the day was a 6 under par 68 from Woodlands Golf Clubs Julienne Soo.
