Michael Muller from Olinda took out the men’s section while Anne Slattery from Commonwealth was the women’s winner at the 2012 Open Heart Open.
The event was played at Peninsula Country Golf Club on Monday, 1st May with a field of 55 competitors. All players must have undergone open heart surgery to be eligible to compete.
Muller scored 38 points off a handicap of 14, to win on a count back from Bob Jolley of Kingswood. Dennis Flentje of The Heritage was third place among the men.
In the women’s section Anne Slattery achieved her second victory in the event. Her 29 stableford points off a 25 handicap placed her 2 points clear of Mayva Patterson, Woodlands with 27 points and Louise Farrar, Wodonga third with 26 points.
Muller’s score also earned him the Don Lawrence Trophy for the best overall score on the day.
