The final round of the 2012 Sunday 5’s was played this afternoon under the most perfect weather conditions at Commonwealth and Heidelberg Golf Clubs on Sunday November 11th.
After five rounds it was Long Island Golf Club that claimed section A with the final day of contests being played at the beautiful Commonwealth Golf Club. Playing one another and both tied on 6 match points each, a final round show down between Royal Melbourne and Long Island would decide the 2012 champions. With both clubs heading into the final round undefeated Long Island had a barnstorming 4/1 win over Royal Melbourne to secure the title.
Meanwhile in the finale to section B, Rossdale managed to overcome Riversdale Golf Club to emerge victorious and claim the 2012 flag, halving their match today 2.5/2.5. Heading into the last round Rossdale required only a halved match against Riversdale to be guaranteed the number one placing. Rossdale finished 2 points ahead of Riversdale and 3 points clear of Cranbourne and Latrobe Golf Clubs.
With only four rounds in section C, Medway finished on top with 4 match points and 8 games points to take flag for 2012. WGN, Goonawarra, Chirnside Park and Kooringal finished tied on 3 match points each and were only be separated by game points.
