Jill Blenkey from Newcastle Golf Club has continued her excellent match play form defeating NSW compatriot Brenda Chalmers 2/1 (Elanora Golf Club), in the 2012 Victorian Veterans’ Championship Final at Myrtleford Golf Club this morning. After shooting rounds of 84 and 83, she qualified in 6th spot, 16 shots behind the leading qualifier Louise Briers (Commonwealth) heading into the match play. Blenkey defeated Helen Pascoe 1 Up in the Quarter Final, Jacqui Morgan 2/1 in the Semi Final, before overcoming Brenda Chalmers 2/1 in the final today. Blenkey’s touch around the greens proved pivotal to her Championship win, and will undoubtedly be back next year to defend her title.
