Thursday 18 October 2012 – Day 4
Today s round at Blackheath and Wentworth Falls was a cloudy start for the final component of the Women’s Mountain Meeting, Teams V Par for 2012. A close finish for the top three groups completing their rounds at Blackheath today, with 2 strokes separating first and third place. Winners were Kathy Devon (33) and Patricia Horton (45) from Wakehurst and Carole Massey (28) and Sandy Menin (22) Wentworth Falls with a total score of +17. This was the first time the ladies from Wakehurst and Wentworth Falls had ever played together and it paid off for them all. Runners Up were the ladies from Lynwood, Tracey Lindsey-Morfea (30), Annette Stannard (39), Margaret Williamson (27) and Janine Smith (44) with +16 and fellow Lynwood members, Sandra Chitty (45), Lorraine Gowan (45), Robyn Keyvar (38) and Debra Northwood (21) won third place on +15. Another close finish at Wentworth Falls, the winning team was Joy Battaglia (40), Patricia Mann (38) from Wakehurst and Michelle Crowe (28) and Margaret Novaro (34) from Mona Vale, having a plus on each hole to have a final score of +18. One shot behind was Lyndall Cummine (18), Jacqueline Lloyd (24), T Hall (33) and Penelope Palmer (36) from Killara on +17. Third place Kannika Aberdour (30) and Gillian Wood (34) from Bayview and Janet Raine (28) and Jan Pike (35) from Avalon with +15. Wednesday 17 October 2012 – Day 3
Today was another great day for golf in the Mountain s for the Foursomes component of the tournament. Division One competed at Leura and Division Two at Katoomba. The weather was perfect and the courses in great condition. Division One – Foursomes Results Foursomes Prize Winners Kathryn Turnbull and Diana Hearn (24) from Chatswood had a great nett score of 64 to take the win for Division One. In second place was Edna Chan and Susie Leyshon (26 ) from Wakehurst with a nett 68 . Half a shot behind in third position was Balgowah s Patricia Pashley and Janice MacDonald (23) with a 69 nett. Scratch winners were Deborah Nunn from Wakehurst and Kerry Davis from Wentworth Falls with a 7-over-par 76. Division One – Foursomes Division Two – Foursomes Results Wakehurst s Jennifer Abbot and Robin Pitt (32 ) had a 64 nett to take out first place. Fellow Wakehurst ladies, Patricia Mann and Joy Battaglia (39) came in second place with a nett score of 68 on a countback from Jacqueline Collins and Maureen Williamson (40), also from Wakehurst. Tueday 16 October 2012 – Day 2
Another great day of golf at the Women’s Mountain Meeting to complete the final round of the 36-hole event played at Wentworth Falls (Division One), Blackheath (Division Two) and Katoomba (Division Three). Debbie Nunn from Wakehurst has claimed Division One s Yallambee Cup with a 160 scratch total, scores of 80 at Blackheath and 80 at Wentworth Falls. Runner up was Kerry Davis a Mountain s local from Wentworth Falls with a total of 164. Nett Winner was Bayview s Patricia Shepheard (22) with a total nett score of 136, scores of 66 and 70. Robyn McClurg from Wakehurst was runner up nett winner with a score of 138 on a countback, beating Trude Rail (18) from Strathfield also on 138.
Division One s Yallambee Cup Winner – Debbie Nunn (Wakehurst)
Division One Prize Winners Division One Day 2 Results Local Leura member, Nancy Chan had a great score of 67 to win the daily Nett prize at Wentworth Falls today. Carnie Donnelly (24) from Bayview was runner up with a 68 nett. Debbie Nunn kept her form today to shoot another 80 off the stick to win the day s event. Division One – Day 2 Leaderboard Division Two s Blue Mountains Salver has been won by Ann Rodgers from Concord with a total scratch score of 186. Runner up was only 2 strokes behind on 188, Judith Shade from Kogorah. Bayview s Joan Croydon (30) won the overall nett with a total 133 on a countback from Wakehurst s Janet Connor (28). A very excited Phillipa Waugh (30) from Bayview had a hole-in-one at Blackheath today on Hole 17, a 124m Par 3 over water.
Division Two s Blue Mountains Salver Winner – Ann Rodgers (Concord)
Division Two Prize Winners Division Two Day 2 Results Ann Rodgers (30) from Concord won the daily nett with an amazing score of 66. Only one stroke shy on 67 to come runner up was Joan Hartmann (29) from Wakehurst. The daily scratch prize was won by Pam Pain from Cromer with a 94. Division Two – Day 2 Leaderboarda> The Megalong Valley Trophy is Division Three s major prize and was won by Pymble s Rosemary Corbett (32) with a total point score of 79. Sue Cooper (34) from Wakehurst came in second place on a total of 77, winning on a countback from Maria Lewis (43) from Chatswood. Fourth Place went to Jennifer Corrigan (36) from Chatswood on 75.
Division Three s Megalong Valley Trophy Winner – Rosemary Corbett (Pymble)
Division Three Prize Winners Division Three Day 2 Results Sue Cooper (34) from Wakehurst won the daily prize with a great score of 41 points. Second prize went to Rosemary Corbett (32) from Pymble with 40 points and Third place to Shirley Carroll from Wakehurst with 38 on a countback. Division Three – Day 2 Leaderboard
Monday 15 October 2012 – Day 1
A beautiful day for golf in the Mountains today with over 210 ladies competing at Blackheath (Division One), Leura (Division Two) and Wentworth Falls (Division Three) for day one of the four day week. Division One Results Wakehurst s Debbie Nunn is the lead after day one at Blackheath Golf Club for Division 1 with an 80 off the stick. One stroke behind is Louise Stevenson from Killara on 81. Nett winner from Bayview is Patricia Shepheard (22) with 66 nett on a countback from Strathfield s Truda Rail (18) with a 66 nett. Division One Leaderboard Division Two Results In Division Two, Yvonne Murray from Blackheath had a score of 87 off the stick to win the daily scratch and lead the field by three strokes. Concord s Ann Rodgers (30) is in second place, finishing the day with 90, and also taking out the daily nett with fantastic score of 60, 9 strokes better than her handicap. On a countback for the runner up in the nett was Joan Croydon (30) with a 63. Division Two Leaderboard Division Three Results Jennifer Corrigan (36) from Chatswood had an amazing score of 45 points to win Division 3, four points ahead of three ladies who all finished on 41 points and were all from Wakehurst Golf Club. Over 280 ladies will compete at this year s Women’s Mountain Meeting being held at Blackheath, Leura, Katoomba and Wentworth Falls Golf Club’s on Monday 15th, Tuesday 16th, Wednesday 17th and Thursday 18th October 2012. Draw and Player Information This event is one of the longest running and most popular tournaments on the Golf NSW women’s calendar. The Mountain Meeting began in 1930 and was won by Mrs D. O Brien who received The Yallambee Cup and then in 1970, after event participation numbers expanded, The Blue Mountains Salver for Division Two was introduced, this trophy was donated in appreciation by the Blue Mountains District Council. As recently as the year 2000, The Megalong Valley trophy was introduced for Division Three players, who support and enjoy the Mountain Meeting in ever increasing numbers each year. The Women’s Mountain Meeting is open to female amateurs who hold a current Australian or overseas equivalent handicap. It is held over four days, across a number of courses in the Blue Mountains Region. The format is stroke play over 36-holes, 18-holes on day one, and 18-holes on day two (played in four divisions), followed by 18-holes foursomes on day three, and best ball teams v par on day four. The Presentation will be held on Wednesday 17 October 2012 at Wentworth Falls Golf Club from around 4.00pm.
