Another fabulous weekend of golf for all who participated in the 2012 Women’s Weekend Tournament at The Vintage Golf Club. This year s event had 240 ladies travel from all over the state to participate in the annual Tournament. The event has been running since 2006 and has become increasingly popular with entries filling well before the closing date. Saturday s event is a single stableford with 2 shotgun starts – 7.30am and 12.30pm, played in 2 divisions over the field plus to 22 and 23 to 45 + ball comp. The format for Sunday s event is a Four Person Team V Par with one score to count with 2 shotgun starts – 7.30am and 12.30pm. Prizes are awarded for both the morning and afternoon fields for First, runner-up and third placed teams.

A colder start to todays golf with the AM group teeing off in 5 degree weather. Todays event was an 18-hole Best Ball Teams Event V Par with 120 ladies playing in each shotgun start. The scores for the AM field were very close at the top end of the field with two teams coming in with +10. The girls from Longyard GC were fortunate to take home the winning prize on a countback; their team consisted of Judy Jackson (18), Pamela Hall (29), Marjorie Handley (22) and Lindsey Bagust (24). Runners up were Mary Crawford (18), Samantha Greaves (30), Cherilyn Margetts (24) and Donna McCormick (11) from Kogorah GC. One point behind to win third place on a 6-way countback on +9 was Rayma Pattrick (36), Rhonda Magner (8), Pamela Thomson (34) from Concord and Melita Watson (16) from Branxton. A fantastic day for golf to start this year s 2012 Women&aposs Weekend Tournament at The Vintage Golf Club. 236 ladies are competing today in the 18-hole Individual Stableford held over two divisions. The greens were quite quick for the liking and the course conditions were tough but these factors didn t seem to faze Boonie Doon s Bernice Ellise (18) who had an amazing score of 41 points take the win for division one, 5 clear of Rhondda Shaw (17) from Nelson Bay with 36 points. Third place was Allice Casey (16) from Cabramatta with 33 points on a countback. Karen Wagg (27) from Bankstown had 35 points to win division two on a countback from Lydia Lindsey-Hartmann (27). Two points behind Karen and Lydia to win third place was Carolyn Boorman (26) from Chatswood with 33 points to also win on a countback.
