The closing date for entries into both the 2013 Men’s Ivo Whitton Trophy and the Women’s Champions Trophy has been extended until Thursday 31 January 2013.
First played in 1960, the Ivo Whitton Trophy is a men’s stroke averages competition played each calendar year. In 2013, the Ivo Whitton event schedule encompasses 37 separate tournaments staged at clubs both in Metropolitan Melbourne and country Victoria.

To qualify for the Trophy and achieve an final average, a player must play a minimum of 24 rounds in events with Ivo Whitton status. The 24 rounds MUST include a minimum of:-
– 2 x 72 hole events
– 3 x 36 hole (Metropolitan) event
– 3 x 36 hole (Country) event
Scores returned by each player on a course with an Australian Men’s course rating of more (or less) than 70 will be decreased (or increased) by the number of strokes by which the rating is more (or less) than 70. If a player who, having entered an event, fails to take his place in the field, fails to return his card or is disqualified, will be recorded with a score of 90 for that round or rounds, unless a satisfactory explanation is received.
For each round played above 24 rounds, the player’s worst adjusted score or scores are deleted as follows:-
– 25 rounds – 1 worst score deleted
– 26 rounds – 2 worst scores deleted
– 27 rounds – 3 worst scores deleted and so on.
The player with the lowest adjusted average at the end of the calendar year will be the winner.The cost to enter is $27.50 and eligible players must be on handicaps of 8 and below as of the date of entry.
In 2013, Golf Victoria is also introducing an equivalent competition for women, the Women’s Champions Trophy. A schedule of 26 events has been coordinated for the inaugural year including traditionally conducted women’s events such as the Women’s Autumn and Spring tournaments as well as a number of existing Ivo Whitton events that have introduced women’s sections to provide weekend competition opportunities.

To qualify for the Champions Trophy and achieve a final average, a player must play a minimum of 12 rounds in events with Champions Trophy status. The 12 rounds MUST include a minimum of:-
– 1 x 72 hole event
– 2 x 36 hole (Metropolitan) event
– 2 x 36 hole (Country) event
For each round played above 12 rounds, the player’s worst adjusted score or scores are deleted as follows:-
– 13 rounds – 1 worst score deleted
– 14 rounds – 2 worst scores deleted
– 15 rounds – 3 worst scores deleted and so on.
