Following the success of the 2012 event, the Men’s & Women’s Victorian Open Championships will be again played simultaneously. The 1st and 2nd rounds of the 2013 Women’s Victorian Open will be played over the 13th Beach – Creek Course with a starting field of 120 players. The remaining 36-holes of the Women’s Open will be played concurrently with the Men’s Open on the Beach Course on the weekend of 23-24 February.
The 2013 Men’s Victorian Open will be played over 72-holes over the Beach Course from Thursday 21 to Sunday 24 February with a starting field of 144 players. The leading 50 players (plus ties plus amateurs) will contest final 36-holes.
There will also be a cut for the Women’s Open following the 2nd round with 50 players plus ties progressing to the weekend’s final 36-holes. The draw for the final rounds on both Saturday and Sunday will be arranged on the basis of alternating men’s and women’s groups, most likely using a two tee start in the morning and afternoon. The aim is to have the leading group of men’s and women’s players follow each other up the 18th hole to conclude the event on Sunday afternoon.
The Championship is open to Professionals and Amateur Golfers whose Australian Handicaps do not exceed 2.4 strokes (Men’s Open) and 4.4 strokes (Women’s Open) under the Australian Handicapping System. The entry fee for exempt amateur players is $110 while Non-exempt amateur players are required to submit an initial entry fee of $44 plus further $66 at registration if successful at final qualifying. All entry fees are GST inclusive.
Amateur entries to the Championship close at 5pm on Thursday 31 January. All Men’s Professional entries must be made through the PGA of Australia (www.pga.org.au) while all Women’s Professional entries must be made through Australian Ladies Professional Golf (www.alpg.com.au)
