2013 Women’s Summer Meeting


Thursday 7 March 2013 – Summer Meeting Teams V Par


The final round of the Women&aposs Summer Meeting was played at Moss Vale and Highlands Golf Club&aposs with over 100 starters at each venue for the Teams V Par event. A narrow finish at Moss Vale with the top 3 prize winning teams scoring +10. Winning on a countback for first place was Sally Bannister (12, Cobar), Cathy Beach (21, Warren), Josephine Matthews (24, Albert) and Julie Scott (30, Grenfell). Runners up were Roz Black (11), Elizabeth Dunn (14) from Mona Vale and Allison Matthews (13) and Niki Menzies (19) from Cromer also on +10. In third place, Alison Grant (20, The Australian) and Wakehurst ladies Ann Cameron (16), Jenny Knapman (22) and Heather Rudkin (25) with +10. Team Prize Winners – Moss Vale GC LEADERBOARD TEAMS – MOSS VALE GC Toukley&aposs Beth Bjorkbom (25), Diane O&aposMeara (26), Jill Mace (16) and Marilyn Walton (15) had a score of +8, winning on a countback from the Wakehurst ladies, Judy Gailey (35), Carol Hadwen (36), Bev Orme (23) and Helen Shrivell (30) also having + 8. One stroke behind on +7 was the local team from Highlands, Satako Hayashi (10), Carolyn MacDonald (36), Joan Rivers (34) and Sue Sweeney (32), winning on a countback to claim third place. Wednesday 6 March 2013 – Summer Meeting Foursomes


A tremendous day for golf at the Summer Meeting today for the 18-hole foursomes. Over 110 players played in each division, division one at Highlands GC and division two at Bowral GC. Division One – Highlands Highland s local, Satoko Hayashi and Moss Vale s Alison Durbin (19.5) had a great round to secure the nett prize in division one, with a score of 74.5 nett. Runners up were Moss Vale s Trish Smith and Debbie Rollason (17) with a nett score of 77. Lynette Brown and Patricia McSorley (23.5) (Wakehurst) were third with a 77.5 nett. Scratch winners were Cromer s, Alison Matthews and Niki Menzies had a good score of 91. Foursomes Prize Winners – Division One Division One – Bowral Nett winners for division two with a score of 70, were Carol Hadwen and Helen Shrivell (33) (Wakehurst). Bayview s Patty Rochester and Anne O Brien (37.5) were one and a half shots behind on 71.5 nett to be runners up. Pamela Hannan and Jennifer James (35.5) from Wakehurst had a nett 72.5 on a countback. Scratch winners also on a countback were Bowral s Beverley Clayton and Susan Olson with a even score of 100 off the stick. Summer Meeting Round 2 – Tuesday 5 March 2013


It was a superb day for golf in the Southern Highlands for the final round of the 2013 Women’s Summer Meeting 36-hole singles event. Division One It was a close finish for the final 18-holes for Division One s Open Summer Cup today at Bowral Golf Club. On a total of 165 off the stick and sharing the victory in a three way tie were Moss Vale s Jocelyn Mackay, Brenda Chalmers (Elanora) and Yvonne Boardman (Toukley). Magaret Poulton (21) from Camden took out the 36-hole Nett prize with a total of 151, on a countback from Highlands local, Satiko Hayashi (10). Day 2 Results Camden s Margaret Poulton (21) had a nett 72 to win the daily prize at Bowral today, on a countback from Lisa Jones (9) (Wollongong). Scratch winner for the day, on a countback, was Jocelyn Mackay with an 81 off the stick. LEADERBOARD – DIVISION ONE Overall Prize Winners – Division One Division Two The final round of Division Two s Kathleen Armstrong Bowl was played at Mt Broughton Golf Club today. Skye Briggs from Monash had a total of 196 off the stick to win the overall prize, one stroke behind was Mona Vale s Julie Alcock on a total of 197 to be scratch runner up. Moss Vale s Brenda Campbell (23) won the overall nett on a score of 152. Runner up, Patricia McSorley (22) from Wakehurst had a score of 154. Day 2 Results Moss Vale s Brenda Campbell (23) took out the daily nett at Mt Broughton with a total of 73. One shot shy on a score of 74 nett was Chris Amery (28) from Lynwood. Scratch winner for the day was Elizabeth Lewis from Wakehurst with a total of 95. LEADERBOARD – DIVISION TWO Overall Prize Winners – Division Two Division Three Division 3 was a Wakehurst whitewash, with all prizes being won solely by the ladies from Wakehurst. Barbara Webster (35) had a total of 60 points to win division three s Summer Salver. Rhonda Mulberry (30), runner up, had a total of 59 points. In third place was Mary Streeter (33) with a total of 58 points, winning on a countback from Jan Van Den Broek (29) to come in fourth overall. Day 2 Results Mary Streeter (33) from Wakehurst won first place for day 2 at Moss Vale with a score of 34 points. Runner up, Barbara Webster (35) (Wakehurst) had a score of 31 points. In third place on 30 points was Wakehurst s Anne Martin (31). LEADERBOARD – DIVISION THREE Overall Prize Winners – Division Three


Summer Meeting Round 1 – Monday 4 March 2013


Following a full week of rain at the Southern Highlands over 220 ladies braved it today for the first round of the 2013 Women’s Summer Meeting. Division One Manly s Kerry Regan (19) took out the daily nett prize for round one played at Mt Broughton today with a score of 74 nett. Regan won on a four way countback from Debbie Rollason (15) (Moss Vale), Judy Dind (20) (Toukley) and Allison Matthews (13) (Cromer). Toukley s Yvonne Boardman was the scratch winner for round one with a score of 83 off the stick. One stroke behind on 84 is Moss Vale local, Jocelyn MacKay. LEADERBOARD – DIVISION ONE Division One Prize Winners Division Two Patricia McSorley (22) from Wakehurst had a nett score of 74, leading after round one by two shots from Skye Briggs (23) from Monash on 76 nett at Moss Vale Golf Club today. Scratch winner from Mona Vale was Julie Alcock with a score of 99, winning on a countback from Skye Briggs (Monash). LEADERBOARD – DIVISION TWO Division Two Prize Winners Division Three Day one at Highlands Golf Club and Wakehurst s Carol Hadwen (36) had 32 points, taking the lead on a countback from fellow Wakehurst member, Rhonda Mulberry (30). One point behind on 31 are three ladies, Diana Jefferson (30) (Wakehurst), Jan Van Den Broek (29) (Wakehurst) and Anne O Brien (43) (Bayview). Over 300 ladies will compete in this year s Women’s Summer Meeting being held at Bowral, Highlands, Moss Vale and Mount Broughton Golf Club’s on Monday 4th, Tuesday 5th, Wednesday 6th and Thursday 7th March 2013. Draw and Player Information The history of the Women’s Summer Open Summer Cup Trophy is that it was first presented in 1940 by Miss M. McLeish. She was the NSW Country Vice President and Captain-Manager of the first golf team of Mardi Mair and Pat Borthwick (NSW) chosen to represent Australia in the Commonwealth tournament at St. Andrews in 1959. That same year saw the introduction of the Kathleen Armstrong Bowl (Division 2) to honor Miss Armstrong, at the express wish of the Executive Council of the NSW LGU. The Women’s Summer Meeting is open to female amateurs who hold a current Australian or overseas equivalent handicap. It is held over four days, across a number of courses in the Central Southern Golf Association. The format is stroke play over 36-holes, 18-holes on day one, and 18-holes on day two (played in three divisions), followed by 18-holes foursomes on day three, and best ball teams v par on day four. The Presentation will be held on Tuesday 5 March 2013 at Highlands Golf Club at 6.30pm. Prizes will be awarded for: Division 1 and Division 2 Singles Stroke 36-hole Tournament – Scratch winner and runner-up, nett winner and runner-up 18-hole Daily Events – Scratch winner, nett winner and runner-up Division 3 Singles Stableford 36-hole Tournament – Stableford winner, runner-up, third and fourth places 18-hole Daily Events – Stableford winner, runner-up, and third place Foursomes – Divisions 1 and Division 2 – Stroke 18-hole Tournament – Scratch winners and nett winners, runners-up and third place Four person Teams V Par Winners, runners-up and third place awarded over the field at each course Good luck to all in the Tournament.
