Port Macquarie’s Andrew Kirkman has come storming home in the final round of the 2014 Men’s NSW Country Championship with a three-under-par round of 68 to take out the Championship. Also coming home strong was Moruya’s Gavin Fitzgerald who had a final round of 69 to give him second place on a countback with a 36-hole total of 142. Coming in third was Blue Mountains young gun Josh Cabban also on a total of 142. The 36-hole nett winner for the Championship was Steven Betland (Forbes) with 142. The nett runner up was Joseph Trinder (Pymble) with 143 on a countback. The winner of the 2014 Inter-District Team Championship was Lower North Coast with a total of 580 represented by Andrew Kirkman, Ben Dunn, Jac Delaney, Ben Marron, Stefan Walker and Jackson Jubelin.

Duntryleague’s Robert Payne has had an exceptional round of four-under-par 67 to lead the Championship by four shots. Conditions were tough at Parkes today with Payne being the only player to break par. In tied second with an even par round of 71 is Dylan Perry and Scott Matheson. In the teams event, Central West District is leading by a mere two shots from the Hunter River District. Play commences tomorrow with a 7am shotgun start. There are 78 men due to contest the 2014 Men's NSW Country Championship, incorporating the Men’s NSW Country Inter-District Championship Teams Even being held at Parkes Golf Club on Saturday 1 and Sunday 2 November 2014.

 

Draw and Player Information

The Men’s NSW Country Championship is open to male amateurs who:

(a) hold a current GA handicap that does not exceed the handicap limit of 9.4 at the time of entry; and
(b) are Members of a Country Golf Club affiliated Golf NSW; and
(c) are a bona fide ACT or NSW resident outside the Sydney Metropolitan Area

The Championship is played over 36-holes stroke play, 18-holes on the first day and 18-holes on the second day.

The Championship also incorporates the Inter-District Teams Challenge, between teams from District Golf Associations throughout NSW.

NSW Country Champion receives an exemption into the NSW Open.

A range of prizes will be awarded, including:

  • NSW Country Championship (scratch) – 1st place
  • NSW Country Championship (scratch) – 2nd place
  • NSW Country Championship (scratch) – 3rd place
  • 36 Holes Nett Winner
  • 36 Holes Nett Runner Up
  • 1st 18 Holes – Scratch Winner
  • 2nd 18 Holes – Scratch Winner
