2014 Men’s Sand Greens Championship

Cobar's Craig Dillon (pictured below) won the 2014 NSW Sand Greens Championship at Nyngan today, finishing at even par, three strokes ahead of Walgett's Neil Newton.

 

Walcha's Andrew Brennan won the Junior Championship, finihsing with a total of five over par.

The nett event was won by Cobar's Greg Bowkett, who had two incredible rounds of nett 59 and 61, to win by five strokes to Nyngan's Tony Lewis.  The full results are listed below.

Play has commenced in the 2014 NSW Sand Greens Championship today, with blue skies and a light breeze greeting the players.  The Nyngan layout is particularly tight down along the river front, however, scoring was extremely good.

Cobar's Craig Dillon leads the field after a first round one under par 67.  Dillon leads by one stroke to Neil Newton (Walgett) and a further stroke ahead of Condobolin's Zac Mitchell and Dubbo's Greg Bowkett.

In the nett event, Bowkett leads by one to local member Tony Lewis.

In the teams event, the Nyngan team of Don Lister, Tony Lewis and Adrian Hawley lead by two strokes from another local team and closely followed by Cobar.

Over 100 men will contest the 2014 Men's NSW Sand Greens Championship, incorporating the 2014 NSW Junior Boy's Sand Greens Championship and the 2014 NSW Sand Greens Teams Event, being held at Nyngan Golf Club on Saturday 18 and Sunday 19 October 2014.

 

Draw and Player Information

The Championship is open to male amateur golfers with a GA handicap of 27.4 or under, and will be played over two rounds of 18-holes.

The Championship includes the popular team’s event whereby teams of three compete, with the two best nett scores each day counting towards the team total.

A range of prizes will be awarded, including:

  • NSW Sand Greens Champion will be awarded the John Lugsdin Memorial Trophy
  • Sandgreens Championship runner up
  • 36 hole nett winner & runner up
  • Saturday scratch winner
  • Saturday nett winner
  • Sunday scratch winner
  • Sunday nett winner
  • NSW Junior Sand Greens Championship – winner
  • Teams event winners
