SA GOLF INDUSTRY AWARDS NIGHT

The achievements of the South Australian Golf Industry have been celebrated by around 200 golfing representatives from around the state at the South Australian Golf Industry Awards Night held at the Adelaide Oval on the evening of Saturday 18 October.

The Master of Ceremonies for the night was Ben Hook who is also the current Men’s Captain at Mt Osmond Golf Club.

Amongst the highlights of the Awards evening was the induction of one new member to the South Australian Golf Hall of Fame.

Voted by representatives of the four organising bodies, Golf SA, PGA of Australia, Golf Management Australia and the Australian Golf Course Superintendents Association, the new inductee to the South Australian Golf Hall of Fame was Bob Stevens.

Bob joins fellow inductees: Bay HC McDonald, Peter Howard, Pauline Sanderson, Dr David Cherry, Rhonda Watson OAM, Murray Crafter, John Crosby OAM, Jane Crafter and Bob Tuohy.

In total 21 trophies were presented as part of the SA Industry Awards Night, which covered industry specific awards from the GMA, PGA and SAGCSA, as well as awards for volunteer contributions to the game from both Metropolitan and Country areas.

Special guests of the night was Ladies European Tour Player and Member of Royal Adelaide and The Grange Golf Club – Stephanie Na. Interviewed on stage by the MC, Na gave the audience a great insight into her life, firstly as Australia’s top Amateur in 2007/08 then as a tour professional. (view a short clip here)
