2014 South Australian Aboriginal Peoples Championship

Champions: Noel Hartman & May Turner

The 2014 South Australian Aboriginal Peoples Championship was held at the North Adelaide Golf Course on Friday 2 May.

The annual event was reduced from 18 to 9 holes due to inclement weather on the day.

38 players from 52 entries braved the weather on the day, to contest The Championship, which was open to male and female Aboriginal amateur golfers who are members of Clubs affiliated with GOLF SA and who hold a current Golf Australia handicap.

A 9 and 18 hole participation event was also held for the casual golfer.

Noel Hartman took out the Men’s Championship with a gross score of 41 while Senior Men’s Champion was Shane Blogg who shot 44.

May Turner played well in the Women’s division winning the Ladies Championship with a score of gross 50, while Nerida Saunders from North Adelaide Golf Club took out the Senior Ladies Gross event with a score of 55.

All players had a great time and much of that credit goes to the sponsors and organisers of the event including the Office for Sport and Recreation, Australian Electoral Commission, Housing SA, SA Health Commission, ADAC and the Adelaide City Council
