The High Performance Committee would like to announce 2014 Victorian Elite Squads which will begin training at a specialized camp held at Spring Valley Golf Club on February 15th and 16th. The aim of the Victorian Elite squads is to fast track the development of athletes into the Victorian Institute of Sport (VIS) & Golf Australia National Squad program.
In 2013, Victorian Elite Squad members were involved in 14 National selection event victories. Full Squad members are offered $4,000 scholarships of which half must be spent on travel to compete in National ranking events and the remainder into Service provision such as Physiotherapy, Strength & Conditioning and other relevant service provision. The Elite Squad will also attend a number of two-day camps over the next 12 months which will combine a series of specialized workshops and assessment to further assist in the development of each athlete.
The Elite Squad can be added to throughout the year and will take into account an athlete’s potential combined with the individual results in local, state and national events. A specialized review will occur after the 2014 VIS scholarships have been announced in early March.
