2014 Women’s Autumn Meeting

The last day of the 2014 Women's Autumn Meeting is a four person teams event v par played at Yowani and Gold Creek Golf Clubs.  Four consecutive days of sunshine contributed to the enjoyment of the event for all participants.

At Yowani, Britta Lamborn, the winner of the division two individual event on Monday and Tuesday, teamed up with fellow Wakehurst members Lorraine Sullivan, Tanya Hoyle and Robyn Thomas.  The had the winning score of 8up.  Runners up were the Pambula Merimbula ladies, Heather Anne York, Sarina Garrett, Margaret Gaunson and Michele Gaye Martin who had a score of 7up. Kathleen Bull, Dirkje Kingma, Suzanne Walsh and Maria De Jong of Camden GC finished in third place with a score of 6up. 

At Gold Creek Robyn Mason and Carolyn Morgan of Bayview GC teamed up with Dilys Geddes of Asquith GC and Helen Egan of Killara GC.  Their score of 8up was the winning score of the day at Gold Creek.  Runners up were Carol Foster of Campbelltown GC, Genevieve Slattery of Concord GC, Helen Hobbs of North Ryde GC and Robyn Hall of Sanctuary Cove GC with a score of 7up.

Local knowledge won out in division one at Fairbairn GC where Marian Hinds and Melita Zielonco (Belconnen) had a score of 74nett to win.  Runners up were sisters Di Johnson and Pat Bowden (Nelson Bay) just half a shot behind the winners on 74.5nett.  Third place went to Liz Smyth and Ning Hanson (Royal Canberra) with 75nett. 

Dilys Geddes (Asquith) and Helen Egan (Killara) had the best nett score of the day at Capital GC.  Their score of 73.5nett was the best score by five shots.  In runner up position Judy Dind (Toukley) and Margaret Stobo had a score of 77.5nett followed by Brownyn Krawze and Maurice Scott (Campbelltown) with 78.5nett.

The final day of the 2014 Autumn Meeting is a teams event v par held at Yowani and Gold Creek Golf Club’s.  A shotgun start at 8.30am will take place at each venue.

Paige Stubbs (Pennant Hills)  has clinched her second consecutive ACT Championship Cup, winning Division 1 in the 2014 Women’s Autumn Meeting. Stubbs had rounds of 82 and 79 for a total of 161, winning by just one shot from Jocelyn MacKay (Moss Vale) who finished with 84 and 78 for a total 162.  Kathryn Fetterplace (Maitland) is the winner of the nett with a total of 150.  Margaret Hancock (Mornington) is runner up with a total score of 152nett won on a countback from Lisa Jane McBean (Pambula Merimbula).

In division two Britta Lamborn (Wakehurst) had scores of 99 and 102 to finish on a total of 201, five shots ahead of the field.  Judy Barrett (The Coast) finished in runner up position on a total of 207.  Jennifer Turnbull (Kareela) had the best division two nett score with 153nett.

All players were complimentary of the condition of the courses and the hospitality extended to them at each of the clubs on the first two days.  The presentation takes place at 6.30pm at Yowani Golf Club.

Tomorrow the Foursomes competition will be played at Fairbairn and Capital Golf Club's. Draws available at the bottom of this article.

Conditions were ideal for round one at Federal and Belconnen Golf Clubs with the sun shining throughout the day.

Paige Stubbs of Pennant Hills GC leads division one of the 2014 Women’s Autumn Meeting after a score of 82 at Federal GC.  Lisa Jane McBean of Pambula Merimbula GC and Marilyn Neill of Federal GC are in joint second position one shot behind after scores of 83.  Jocelyn MacKay of Moss Vale GC follows on a score of 84.  It should be an exciting finish to the division one section tomorrow.

June Hird of Kareela GC leads division two with a score of 98.  Britta Lamborn of Wakehurst GC and Jennifer Turnbull are one shot behind after scores of 99.  Jacqueline Parsons of North Ryde GC is a further two shots back on 101.

Tomorrow is the final round of the individual component of the 2014 Autumn Meeting.  Division one play at Murrumbidgee GC and division two play at Gungahlin Lakes GC.

The 2014 Women’s Autumn Meeting takes place on Monday 5, Tuesday 6, Wednesday 7 and Thursday 8 May at various courses in the ACT.  The event is open to female amateurs who hold a current or Australian or overseas equivalent handicap.  The courses are Belconnen, Capital, Fairbairn, Federal, Gold Creek, Murrumbidgee, Gungahlin Lakes and Yowani Golf Clubs.

The format is stroke play over 36-holes, 18-holes on day one and 18-holes on day two (played in two divisions), followed by 18-holes foursomes on day three and best ball team’s event v par on day four.  The divisions have been set following close of entries.  In the stroke event the winner of Division one will be awarded the ACT Championship Cup and the winner of division two will be awarded the Seat of Government Cup.

Paige Stubbs returns to defend her title as 2013 winner of the ACT Championship Cup. The first round for division one will take place at Federal GC and division two will play at Belconnen Magpies GC on Monday.
