2014 Women’s Mountain Meeting

A fabulous day for golf in the Mountains to conclude the final round of the Women’s Mountain Meeting. Over 200 ladies played at Leura and Blackheath Golf Club’s for the Teams V Par event.

The players at Leura had a tough field to contend with, the winners finishing with a +14. Manly Golf Club’s Cynthia Merrett (17), Louise Low (21), Suzanne Froggatt (26) and Jeanette Jordan (31) won on a countback from Runners Up, Linda Reiss (Monash CC, 31), Michele Watts (Chatswood GC, 24), Jennifer Corrigan (Chatswood GC, 28) and Lisa Deakin (Monash CC, 25), also having a fabulous round of +14. Wakehurst and Bayview combination of Clair O’Dwyer (Wakehurst GC, 38), Diane Davis-Rice (Wakehurst GC, 33), Sandra Cook (Bayview GC, 25) and Patty Rochester (Wakehurst GC, 28) who won Third Place on a four-way countback on +13.

Another tough field at Blackheath Golf Club with the winners coming in with a score of +12 to win a four-way countback, Christine Murphie (Woolooware GC, 28), Anne Mitchell (Woolooware GC, 35), Judith Shade (Kogarah GC, 22) and Margaret Buckley (Cronulla GC, 28). Runners Up, also on +12 c/b was Avalon Ladies GC Janet Raine (28), Wilma Laurich (38), Leonie Antill (29) and Jan Pike (37). Third place was Janice MacDonald (Balgowlah GC, 22), Kay Coote (Balgowlah GC, 31), Pam Pain (Cromer GC, 24) and Nannette South (Roseville GC, 23) with +12 c/b.

Day three has wrapped up for 2014 with Wakehurst pairing Debbie Nunn and Sachiko Cathcart taking out the Foursomes for Division One at Lithgow Golf Club with 86 off the stick. Nett Winners with a score of 67 nett was Susan Charnock (Chatswood GC, 28) and Christine Ledingham (Nelson Bay GC, 26). Nett Runners Up were Bankstown pairing of Fay Hunter (14) and Patricia Addington (36) with 68 nett and one stroke behind of nett 69 was Carol Evans (26) and Jill Varty (24) from Vincentia to come in Third Runner Up Nett.

Winners of the Division Two Foursomes Scratch were Terrigal pairing of Judith Eaton and Cheryl Ledger with a score of 101. Nett Winners were also Terrigal Memorial GC members, Marnie I’Anson (27) and Vivienne Ball (33) with a nett 76. Half a shot behind for Nett Runners Up were Diane Edwards (33) and Diana Jefferson (36) from Wakehurst GC with nett 76 ½. Kerrie Cunningham (Massey Park, 44) and Susan Schwarz (Kareela GC, 29) won Third Runner Up Nett with 77 ½.

A tight finish in the final round of the 2014 Women’s Mountain Meeting, the last of the 36-hole individual event was played today at Blackheath GC (Division One), Leura GC (Division Two) and Wentworth Falls CC (Division Three) today.

Wakehurst’s Debbie Nunn had rounds of 82 and 80 to win the Division One Yallambee Cup on a total of 162, winning by 2 strokes. Overnight leader Louise Stevenson (Killara GC) shot a round of 81 and 83 for a total of 164 to come in runner up. 36-hole nett winner was Lyn Manning (Bankstown GC, 25) who had consistent nett rounds of 71 and 71 for a total of 142. Nett runner up, three shots behind on 145, with rounds of 70 nett and 75 nett was Tarina Foote (Manly GC, 14).

Diane Doering (Bayview GC) has won the Division Two Blue Mountain Salver by one stroke on a total of 195, rounds of 98 and 97. Runner Up Scratch Winner on a countback was Pam Pain from Cromer GC with round of 100 and 96, 196 in total. Lynne Woodward (28) from Wakehurst GC won the 36-hole Nett with a total nett score of 145, consecutive rounds of 72 and 73. Avalon’s Janet Raine (28) had 146 nett total to come in winner of the Nett Runner Up prize winner with 74 and 72.

Division Three’s Megalong Valley Trophy winner was Bayview’s Joan Croydon (31) with scores of 37 and 38, a total of 75 to win the event by 1 point. Diane Davis-Rice (Wakehurst GC, 35) was runner up on 74 points, rounds of 46 and 28.

Day one is completed for the 2014 Women's Mountain Meeting with the first 18-holes being played today at Wentworth Falls (Division 1), Blackheath (Division 2) and Lithgow (Division 3).

Over 250 Women head to the Blue Mountain's on Monday 20 October to participate in the 2014 Women's Mountain Meeting, being held at Blackheath, Leura, Lithgow and Wentworth Falls Golf Club's from Monday 20 – Thursday 23 October 2014.
 

Draw and Player Information

The Women's Mountain Meeting is open to female amateurs who hold a current GA or overseas equivelent handicap. It is held over four days, across a number of courses in the Blue Mountains Region.

The format is stroke play over 36-holes, 18-holes on day one and 18-holes on day two (played in three divisions), followed by 18-hole foursomes on day three and best ball teams v par on day four.
