2015 Men’s NSW Senior Championship

Coomealla’s Gregory Rhodes has claimed the 2015 Men’s NSW Senior Championship finishing with a 6-under-par 202 after 54-holes. Rhodes started the final day with a 6 shot lead over local Duntryleague member Robert Payne. Payne challenged early in blustery conditions, cutting the lead to three at the turn. However it was Rhodes who maintained his composure to finish the round with an even-par 70 and claim the J.R.Higson Trophy by eight strokes.

Robert Payne finished runner-up with a score of 210, while Mark Pearson from Warringah Golf Club finished third on a count back with 215.

The teams from Duntryleague Golf Club and Orange Ex Services Country Golf Club did a fantastic job co-hosting the event and special thanks goes to all the volunteers who assisted throughout the event.

The second day of the 2015 Men's Senior Championships is underway at Orange Ex Services Country Golf Club with a number of impressive scores already posted. Overnight co-leader Gregory Rhodes (Comealla Golf Club) continued his impressive form, shooting a 4-under-par 64. Rhodes leads the Championship after two rounds on a score of 132, 6 shots ahead of Duntryleague’s Robert Payne with scores from the afternoon field (including fellow overnight leader Warren Gorton) to come.

Stefan Albinski (Mona Vale Golf Club) and Gary Batman (Liverpool Golf Club) were the other standout performers from this morning’s field, with both players posting a 2-under par 66.

Play is underway for the first round of the 2015 Men’s NSW Senior Championship at Duntryleague GC. The course is in immaculate condition with the weather also being exceptional. The morning field have completed their rounds with Warren Gorton (Hawks Nest) getting out the an early lead with a great score of two-under-par 68.

Tournament favourite and Duntryleague local Robert Payne has commenced his round this afternoon and has been showing some amazing form after breaking his own course record this week at Duntryleague with a ten-under-par 60 off the stick.

A field of 161 elite amateur senior male golfers will converge on the regional city of Orange next week to contest the 2015 Men's NSW Senior Championship.
