Sophie Cusack and James Grierson have won a hotly contested 2015 NSW Mixed Foursomes Championship. The clubhouse lead changed several times throughout the afternoon, however it was the Bonnie Doon Golf Club pairing who saved the best till last, finishing in the final group with a 2-over-par 74. Only three strokes separated the top three positions with Chizuru Ueda and Tristan Berrett from The Lakes Golf Club finishing runner-up on a score of 3-over-par 75, while Kate King (Manly Golf Club) Julian Jackson (Manly Golf Club) finished a shot further back on 76. Cusack and Grierson, who are the reining Bonnie Doon Golf Club Mixed Foursomes Champions, also claimed the title of Champion of Champions.
In the Nett event, it was Pamela and Ken Dilucchio (Camden Golf Club) who claimed victory, posting an impressive 68.5. Lauren Maher (Quenbeyan Golf Club) and Stephen Dewar (Junee Golf Club) finished runner-up with a score of 72.
Contestants braved icy conditions as the cold front, which had dropped over 4 inches of snow in Orange, moved through the Southern Highlands. At the commencement of play the mercury had reached a chilly 3 degrees (with a wind-chill adjusted temperature of -2 degrees). Special thanks must go to Chris Allen (Golf NSW Chairman) and Bob Griffith who braved the conditions to officiate and start the field.
Golf NSW would like to extend their gratitude to Mt Broughton Golf & Country Club for hosting the event. Congratulations to all who competed on what was a wonderful day of golf, we look forward to seeing you again in 2016.
