2015 Women’s Country Meeting

The last round of the Women's Country Meeting was played at Wakehurst Golf Club today with 128 players contesting in the foursomes component of the tournament.

Coolangatta-Tweed Heads pairing of Susan Reguson and Jodie Rockliff have once again taken out the Vera Rankin Trophy for division one 18-hole foursomes stroke. The pair shot a 91 at Wakehurst today to win the trophy three years running. Nett winners Margaret Bateman and Christine Dickson (18) from Port Macquarie had 83 nett, three shots ahead of nett runners up Betty Adams and Jennifer Hardy (15) from Kew Golf Club with 86 nett.

Division two scratch winners were Dawn Michilis and Cynthis Roberts from Belmont with 107. Maitland's Robyn Greedy and Christine Whitchurch (29 1/2) won division two's nett with 83 1/2 nett. Nett runners up with an 87 nett was Millie Harris (Grafton) and Kim Moore (MacLean) (24).

Fantastic weather for all three days of golf and each course was a different but great experience.

The final 18-holes of the 36-hole Women's Country Meeting was played at Warringah Golf Club today with some very close finishes.

Division One

Susan Reguson (Coolangatta-Tweed Heads GC) stole the win for the division one Mabel McKenzie Cup for 2015. Susan came from six shots behind with rounds of 88 at Monash and 88 at Warringah, a total 176 on a countback from Jodie Rockliff (Coolangatta-Tweed Heads GC). Una Clift Bowl Winner was Wentworth's Laurie-Anne Usher (17) with a total of 150 nett. Runner up for the 36-hole nett was Leanne Slater (Young, 18) with a total nett of 154.

Division Two

Division two was won by Muree's Helen Ratley with rounds of 101 at Monash and 99 at Warringah, a total gross score of 200. Overall Nett Winner, the Una Clift Bowl was Maitland's Robyn Searle (22) with 157 on a countback. Runner up nett winner was Mary-Ann Perry (Dorrigo RSL, 24) with a total of 159 nett.

Division Three

The Marie Chapman Trophy winner for the overall 36-hole stableford was Belmont's Jeanette Walters (25) with a total of 60 points. One point behind on a total of 59 points was runner up Christine Whitchurch (25) from Maitland. Third place was a further two points behind, Georgina Watts (Blemont, 25) a total of 57 points.

The first round is now completed with over 140 ladies competing at Monash today for the 2015 Women's Country Meeting.

Leading division one is Royal Canberra's Liz Smyth with an eleven-over-par 82, three shots in front of Jodie Rockliff (Coolangatta Tweed Heads) on 85. Wentworth's Laurie-Anne Usher (18) is leading the nett with a 71 for today's round, second place is four behind, Liz Smyth (Royal Canberra, 7) on nett 75.

Grafton's Heather Robinson is leading division two with a stroke score of 94. Five shots behind on 99 is Maitland's Charmine Van der Veen. Heather (21) and Charmaine (23) are also leading the nett with 73 and 76.

In division three, Kay Austin (Belmont, 31) is leading the stableford competition on 31 points. One point behind and tied for second is Elizabeth Davis (Nelson Bay, 28) and Leanne Welsh (Nambucca Heads, 45) with 30 points.
 

Tomorrow players are competing at Warringah Golf Club for the final 18-holes of the 36-hole event with 7.30 and 12.30pm shotgun starts.

The 2015 Women’s Country Meeting was developed exclusively for country women to participate at Sydney metropolitan golf courses. Over 150 ladies will play in this year’s event, being held at Monash, Warringah and Wakehurst Golf Club's from 31 August, 1 and 3 September 2015.

The format for the event is stroke play over 36-holes for Division One and Two, stableford for Division 3, 18-holes on Monday, and 18-holes on Tuesday. Thursday is an 18-holes foursomes event.
