2015 Women’s NSW Senior Championship

Jacqui Morgan (Monash) has once again been victorious in the Women’s NSW Senior Championship. Jacqui had two convincing victories today, winning 5&4 this morning against Newcastle’s Jill Blenkey, then consolidating with a win in the Final this afternoon of 6&5 against Nikki Haines (Moore Park). Jacqui looked like the favourite from start to finish during the Championship posting exceptional stroke play scores of 73-71 to blitz the field and qualify as top seed for the matchplay. The strokeplay component of the 2015 Women's NSW Senior Championship has concluded today in testing conditions with overnight leader, Jacqui Morgan (Monash), blitzing the field today shooting an exceptional score of one-under-par 71 to post a total score of 144. Scoring was difficult today with the scores showing this. The Championship now goes into a matchplay format for those who have come in the top four either overall or in their age group. See below for full leaderboards as well as the matchplay draw for tomorrow. Semi finals will be played tomorrow morning with the winners advancing to their respective final in the afternoon.

Round one of the 2015 Women’s NSW Senior Championship has been completed here at Duntryleague GC with some great results being posted early in the tournament. Tournament favourite Jacqui Morgan (Monash CC), has had a great opening round of 73 to lead the field by three shots. Tied second in the Championship is local favourite, Sandra Schultz (Duntryleague GC) and Moore Park’s Nikki Haines who both had solid rounds of 76. Nikki not only excelled with a competitive scratch score but also leads the nett for the Championship with Anne Hutchison (Manly GC), with both players having 69 nett for their first round. To see the full leaderboard and leaderboards for each age category see below. Play will continue with round two tomorrow from 8am. At the completion a matchplay draw will be formulated for the overall Championship as well as each of the four age category.

A field of 54 of the state’s best women senior amateur golfers will converge on Orange next week to contest the 2015 Women’s NSW Senior Championship being held at Duntryleague Golf Club on Monday 23, Tuesday 24 and Wednesday 25 March 2015.The Championship is played over 36-holes qualifying rounds, with the four best scratch scores qualifying for the Senior Championship Match play.

  • Round 1 – Monday 23 March – 18 holes stroke play
  • Round 2 – Tuesday 24 March – 18 holes stroke play
  • Match play – Semi Final – Wednesday 25 March – AM
  • Match play – FINAL – Wednesday 25 March PM

Draws for rounds one and two and player information are available HERE.

Match play draws will be conducted after the 36-hole stroke play.

For players who do not qualify in the Senior Championship Match Play, there is also match play broken down by age category:

  • Age 55 to 59 – four to qualify for match play
  • Age 60 to 64 – four to qualify for match play
  • Age 65 to 69 – four to qualify for match play
  • Age 70 plus – four to qualify for match play

There are a number of prizes awarded for the Championship, including NSW Senior Championship (Overall winner); Division A (55-59 years); Division B (60-64 years); Division C (65-70 years); Division D (70 years and over) and daily scratch and nett prizes.

The event is also the final event of the 2014 / 2015 Women’s NSW Senior Order of Merit (SOOM) – an aggregate competition whereby entrants participate in nominated events throughout the year. Depending on the scratch score and their placing in the event (in competition with other registered senior golfers) registered participants receive points. The winner of the annual SOOM Trophy will be the registered player who accumulates the highest number of points from her 2014/15 season.

The presentation of the Women’s NSW Senior Order of Merit and the Women’s NSW Senior Championship will be on completion of play on Wednesday 25 March.
