Semi Finals and FInals match play were played today in the 2014 Women&aposs NSW Senior Championship. MATCH PLAY RESULTS PRIZE WINNERS CHAMPIONSHIP FINAL: Jacqui Morgan (Monash) has won the 2014 Women&aposs NSW Senior Championship, winning her match against Lynne Townsend 2/1. It is Morgan&aposs second title, having previously won the event in 2011. SEMI FINALS: Jacqui Morgan (Monash) had a strong win over Jill Blenkey (Newcastle) 6/5. In another exciting match it was Lynne Townsend (Wollongong) who was victorious over Sylvia Donohoe (Narooma). Final – 12.45pm. FINALISTS

55-59 YEARS FINAL: The home course advantage paid dividends for Maggie Hayes (Bermagui), winning her match against Rhonda Magner (Concord) 2/1. SEMI FINALS: Local Maggie Hayes (Bermagui) defeated Chewlan Chia (Pambula-Merimbula) 4/2. In a thrilling match, Rhonda Magner (Concord) won on the 19th against Pauline Jeffrey (Queanbeyan). Final – 12.30pm. 60-64 YEARS FINAL: Margaret Bain-Smith (Concord) continued her run of good form, defeating local Marion Calder (Bermagui) in the final 3/2. SEMI FINALS: Margaret Bain-Smith (Concord) had a solid win over Chris Taylor (Royal Canberra) 4/3, Local Marion Calder (Bermagui) had a tight tustle with Nicky Moon (Federal) winning the match 2/1. Final – 11.45am. 65-69 YEARS FINAL: The experience of Liz Smyth (Royal Canberra) prevailed in the Final of the 65-69 years, winning her match with Dinah Nutchey-Robinson (Coffs Harbour) 5/3. SEMI FINALS: It was a tight match between Liz Smyth (Royal Canberra) and Fran Vercoe (Bermagui), Smyth taking the match 2/1. Dinah Nutchey-Robinson (Coffs Harbour) had a solid victory over Dawn Manning (Royal Canberra) 4/3. Final -11.20am. 70+ YEARS FINAL: The Final in the 70+ years went right down to the wire, ladies trading holes around the course. The local knowledge from Patricia Jones (Bermagui) was not enough to see her victorious, with Brenda Chalmers (Elanora) securing the win 1up. SEMI FINALS: Brenda Chalmers (Elanora) defeated Barbara Phillips (Monash) 6/5. Patricia Jones (Bermagui) accounted for Gloria Hickey (Coffs Harbour) 4/3. Final – 11.00am. It was a spectacular day at Bermagui Country Club today for the second round of the 2014 Women’s NSW Senior Championship. Club house leader Jacqui Morgan (Monash Golf Club) again led the field on day two with a round of 82. Morgan finished the 36-holes on 163, four ahead of her nearest rival, Lynne Townsend (Wollongong Golf Club) who finished on 167. Sylvia Donohoe (Narooma Golf Club), who also shot a round high 82 today, finished third on 168, while Jill Blenkey (Newcastle) finished fourth on 171. Tomorrow will see the Championship and age category match play take place, with the leading four participants in each category qualifying. Semi Finals will be played in the morning, with Finals in the afternoon. MATCH PLAY DRAW For those that did not qualify for match play, a stableford competition will kick off at 8.20am. Monash Golf Club’s Jacqui Morgan leads the field after the first round of the 2014 Women’s NSW Senior Championship at Bermagui Golf Club today. Morgan shot 81 and leads by just one shot from Lynne Townsend (Wollongong Golf Club) who had 82. Jill Blenkey (Newcastle Golf Club) is a shot further behind on 83 and Liz Smyth (Royal Canberra Golf Club) another shot behind on 84. DRAW – DAY 2 Images – Day 1

A field of 80 of the state’s best women senior amateur golfers will converge on Bermagui next week to contest the 2014 Women’s NSW Senior Championship being held at Bermagui Country Club on Monday 7, Tuesday 8 and Wednesday 9 April 2014. The Championship is played over 36-holes qualifying rounds, with the four best scratch scores qualifying for the Senior Championship Match play.

  • Round 1 Monday 7 April 18 holes stroke play
  • Round 2 Tuesday 7 April 18 holes stroke play
  • Match play Semi Final Wednesday 8 April – AM
  • Match play FINAL – Wednesday 8 April PM

Draws for rounds one and two and player information are available HERE. Match play draws will be conducted after the 36-hole stroke play. For players who do not qualify in the Senior Championship Match Play, there is also match play broken down by age category:

  • Age 55 to 59 – four to qualify for match play
  • Age 60 to 64 – four to qualify for match play
  • Age 65 to 69 – four to qualify for match play
  • Age 70 plus – four to qualify for match play

There are a number of prizes awarded for the Championship, including NSW Senior Championship (Overall winner); Division A (55-59 years); Division B (60-64 years); Division C (65-70 years); Division D (70 years and over) and daily scratch and nett prizes. The event is also the final event of the 2013 / 2014 Women’s NSW Senior Order of Merit (SOOM) an aggregate competition whereby entrants participate in nominated events throughout the year. Depending on the scratch score and their placing in the event (in competition with other registered senior golfers) registered participants receive points. The winner of the annual SOOM Trophy will be the registered player who accumulates the highest number of points from her best eight results for the SOOM events listed. The presentation of the Women’s NSW Senior Order of Merit and the Women’s NSW Senior Championship will be on completion of play on Wednesday 9 April.
