Jacqui Morgan (Monash) has taken out the 2016 Women’s NSW Senior Championship in a close final round today at Newcastle Golf Club.
Morgan was able to stage off a fight back from Kim Burke (Magenta Shores/Shelly Beach) in the final round with Morgan eventually taking out the Championship by a mere two shots with rounds of 79-80-82.
Burke came back from a disappointing first round of 85 to follow in her second round of 76 which reduced Morgan’s lead over her from six shots to only two shots going into the final round. Burke unfortunately could only equal Morgan’s final round of 82, which gave Morgan the Championship.
In third place was Nikki Haines (Moore Park) who played consistently good golf for the Championship with rounds of 84-83-84 to not only place third overall for the Championship, but to also take out her age division over Newcastle local Jill Blenkey.
