Golf Victoria is pleased to announce the addition of a final 2017 Oates Victorian Open qualifying opportunity for both men and women as part of the newly restructured 2017 Men’s & Women’s Traralgon Classic. The 72-hole event will run over three days, 18 holes each day on Friday 27 & Saturday 28 January followed by 36 holes on Sunday 29 January.
“Traralgon Golf Club is excited to be implementing a changed format to the long running Traralgon 72 Hole Classic. The introduction of a Ladies event, to run in conjunction with the Men’s event is a most welcome change. Spreading the event over three days is an initiative that will make the event less of an ordeal.
All players will be made very welcome by the Traralgon members and we look forward to a highly successful event” – Ron Elliot (Director of Golf – Traralgon GC)
The field will be limited to 70 males players and 30 female players, with a ballot by handicap at close of entries should entries reach capacity. After 36-holes the leading 54 men and 22 women (both including ties) shall qualify for the third and fourth rounds.
In addition, the Men’s & Women’s Traralgon Classic has been added to the list of events/achievements under which respective men’s and women’s amateur exemptions to the 2017 Oates Victorian Open starting field will be allocated under category (j) within this list. Amateur exemptions will be allocated in order as outlined on the 2017 Oates Victorian Open entry form from category (a) onwards. Therefore, exemption into the starting field for category (j) is dependent on prior exemption categories being fully utilised.
Amateur entries will be open shortly for the 2017 Oates Victorian Open, to be played at Thirteenth Beach Golf Links on Thursday 9 – Sunday 12 February 2017.
