Bonnie Doon will be out to snare their second Division One Major Pennant in three years after defeating last year’s Champions, The Australian, in a thriller at Riverside Oaks Golf Club.
Despite the return of Avondale Medal winner Blake Windred, who accounted for The Doon’s James Grierson 3&2, the Pagewood outfit got themselves into a commanding position early in the contest, eventually winning 4/3.
Kurt Burns led the way winning one up, while Andrew Cinelli took his match 2&1. Jack McLeod grabbed a vital win over The Australian’s Thomas Heaton, one up, but the result of the day was Ethan Keane winning 5&4 over Ethan Chambers.
The Doon’s opponent in Sunday week's final will be New South Wales GC, who accounted for their neighbours from Maroubra, St. Michael’s 5/2.
Zachary Mullins, who was a part of last year’s Division One winning team at the Australian, was the pick of the winners for the La Perouse club, accounting for Sam Costa 4&3.
Andy Li, Shaun Cameron, and Zinyo Garcia all had impressive wins, while Harry Doig and Michael Lambert’s matches ended in halves. John Lyras was St. Michael’s only win, with a 4&3 victory over Jake Baker.
Division Two

Castle Hill and Cronulla will meet for the Division Two crown after accounting for Penrith and Cromer respectively at Riverside Oaks on Sunday.
Castle Hill, who were beaten semi-finalists in Division One in 2016, made light work of Penrith GC, winning five matches to 2.
Best for Castle Hill was their NSW State team representative Jordie Garner, who breezed past Penrith’s Peter Morris 7&6. Rodney McDonald and Patrick Idquival also had 6&5 wins for the North Westerners, while Chris Lawler was the only bright spot for the Penrith team with his 5&4 win.
In a slightly tighter affair, Brad Thompson showed the Cronulla team how to get it done with his 4&3 win as Cronulla accounted for Cromer 4.5 to 2.5.
Also joining him in the winner's circle for the Shire based club were Shane Holden, and Ian McAuley who had one up wins, while Derryn Weigand got past Cromer’s Mark Taylor 2&1.
Corey Rae was the only bright light for Cromer, who had a big 6&5 win over Dean Van Kampen.
Division Three
Massey Park and Glenmore are set to meet for the Division Three pennant after solid wins at Lynwood Country Club on Sunday.
Massey Park was too good for Carnarvon 4.5 to 2.5. The lead-out trio of Craig Smith, Matthew Wong and Tim Wand all grabbed close wins early before Benjamin Smith booked a place in the final for the club with a thrilling one hole win.
Glenmore was too strong for neighbours, Camden, winning five matches to 2. Joshua Tolomeo, Andrew Robb and Steve Zingle all had good results. However, the win of the day belonged to Reece Hackett, who cruised to a 5&4 victory over Michael O’Toole.
Division Four
Brighton Lakes won a nail-biter against Warringah, while Campbelltown had an easier day against Northbridge in the Division Four semi-finals at Lynwood Country Club.
Brighton Lakes Glenn Langby was the toast of the team after grabbing a 19th hole victory over his opponent, Shane Golding, to book the South Western Club’s spot in the final, four matches to three.
Other winners for Brighton Lakes included David Horton and Glen Ballantine (both 5&4), and Brock Speechley who won 2&1.
In the other semifinal, Campbelltown’s lead out trio of Robert Bruce, Sean MC Cartan and Peter King all scored vital wins in their battle against Northbridge. Clayton Mancell had the result of the day, a 5&3 victory, which sealed the contest for the South Westerners, 4.5 matches to 2.5.
Division Five
Springwood will be out to win their first pennant in their very first year of competition in Metropolitan Major Pennant when they meet Kareela in the Division Five final.
Springwood was too strong for Georges River, winning 5/2, with wins coming from Sal Ballard, David Limbach, Brad Cole and Kyle Honeysett.
Kareela beat Cammeray 4/3 with the result coming down to the wire. Kareela’s Glenn Reid held on to win one up to give the southern side the win.
Other winners for Kareela were Jason & Shane Harding, and Mark Brenton.
Women's Division One

St. Michael's are set to take out the Division One and Two Women’s Metropolitan Major Pennant crowns in successive years after accounting for NSW four matches to one on Sunday.
The trio of Pamela Tsiamis, Danielle Vasquez and Casey Cook scored big wins against their opponents to ensure the contest was over early. With the required number of matches in, the contests between Kelsey Bennett & Olivia Wilson, and Stephanie Kyriacou & Hannah Park were recorded as squares.
Concord will be St. Michaels opponents in Sunday week’s final after their lead out trio also scored straight wins.
Claire Shin (3&1,) Sophie Yip (2&1), and Yearn Kim (4&3) were too good for their opponents, with the remaining two matches Antonia Gonzalez and Monica Johnson, Belinda Ji and Stephanie Hall recorded as halves.
Women's Division Two
Stonecutters Ridge will start favourites in Sunday week's final after trouncing Cumberland 5 matches to nil.
In a one-sided affair, Stonecutters' best was Helen Haynes who won 7&6 and Brielle Mapanao who won 6&5.
Pymble will be Stonecutters' opponent after defeating Cronulla three matches to two after Pymble’s Lisa Green won her match on the 19th hole.
Edwina Pierce and Robyn Jackson led the way for Pymble with 4&3 wins, while in an unlucky Cronulla side, Lily Pierce and Ashleigh Arnold also scored wins.
