Katrina shares her insight into the success of MyGolf Schools program at Southern Cross Catholic College.
At Southern Cross Catholic College, the Primary students participate in Friday sports every Friday afternoon. Since the introduction of the Sporting Schools grant Southern Cross has trialled new sports. Golf was one of the ‘new’ sports we tried.
Under the guidance of Pro Mitch Bligh, students from Year two to Year six participated in fun filled skills and games of Golf. During 2019 over 200 students participated in Golf sessions with Mitch. The success of the Southern Cross golf program can be contributed to Mitch’s ability to demonstrate to the students that golf is fun as well as being able to engage many students during the activities.
Due to the success of the program, Southern Cross will be running more Golf sessions during 2020. Over the next year, the aim is to see more of the students take up Golf as their sport of choice.
