There are 8 Metro and 8 Country qualifying venues. A maximum of 10 students from each district can qualify making a total of 160 for the State Final.

Each Qualifying Competition is a 9-hole stroke event. Students are allowed a maximum score of 8 on each hole and must pick up after 8 shots have been taken. They score a 9 at each hole they pick up on. 10 Students with the lowest scores on the day qualify for Stage 2 – SA – PSGE State final. 

Entry Fees – Students are required to pay a competition fee on the day. Stage 1 – Qualifying fee $10.00.

Modified Rules and Course are used during the Primary Schools Golf event. Copies of modified rules are given to each playing groups coordinator who are responsible for their application. Course length is set at 150metres per hole for all qualifying events.
