Plenty of people remember Peter Senior's triumph over weather and the youngsters to claim his second Emirates Australian Open title in 2012.
What they might have forgotten is one of the most complete and dominant performances in the tournament's storied history when the Queensland champion won his first in 1989.
On Inside The Ropes in this week's "Road To The Open" segment, Senior recalls his epic march around one of his favourite courses, Kingston Heath where he left a stunning field in his wake, including Nick Faldo, Colin Montgomerie, Greg Norman, Frank Nobilo, Mark Calcavecchia, Gordon Brand all of his top Aussie contemproraries.
"I shot 66-66 the first two days and never really missed a shot," Senior recalled.
"I never missed a green the first two days – the first green I missed was the 16th green on Saturday.
"I only had two bogeys. I bogeyed that one and then three-putted the second hole on the last day.
"You don't often have a tournament where you feel you can't hit a bad shot.
"And beating that field by seven shots … I felt pretty comfortable coming down the last, put it that way."
