Aboriginal Golf Championship of SA

Father and son Dudley and Noah Ah Chee have taken out the men’s and junior grades of the 2019 Aboriginal Golf Championship of South Australia which was played in perfect conditions at the North Adelaide Golf Course over 18 holes on Wednesday 3 April. 

In the women’s championship Nerida Saunders from North Adelaide Golf Club (Handicap 24) claimed her sixth title with a round of 107.

23 male and female Aboriginal amateur golfers from around the state participated on the day with those who were members of affiliated clubs and who hold a current Golf Australia handicap, eligible for the Championship.

Playing off a handicap of 14 Ah Chee senior from Aboriginal Golf Club on SA, took out the title with a gross score of 81, while Men’s Senior Champion from Highercombe was Steve Alexander (handicap 7) who fired a round of 85.

Division 2 Men’s Champion (GA Handicap range 19-36) was Paul Widders (handicap of 34) from North Adelaide GC with a nett score 72.

The women’s senior championship was taken out by Glennis Warrior who finished four off Saunders in the open division with a score of 111.

12-year old Grange member Noah Ah Chee won the junior championship with a score of 109.

An 18 hole participation event was also held for the casual golfer, using the callaway scoring system, with Kym Wills claiming the win with a nett score of 77.
