Ace trifecta at Pambula Merimbula

Ordinarily just one hole in one in a day is a magnificent feat, however players were bowled over when news came in off the course that three players all achieved a Hole In One on the same day! Pambula Merimbula Golf Club is currently in the middle of their annual Week of Golf that attracts around 700 players to the 27 Hole course. But never in any of its 33 years of running have they ever had three players come in with a Hole in One on the one day! But that is exactly what happened Thursday 24 October on the sixth day of the event. Club Professional Glenn Warne stated It’s unheard of anywhere! Everyone in the clubhouse cast their memories to recall if they have ever heard of this happening, and amongst 140 clubs represented, no one had heard of this occurring previously. The winners were Ray Clark from Croydon Golf Club on the 11th, Geoff Thomas from Drouin Golf and Country Club also on the 11th, and Gary Cornish from Box Hill Golf Club on the 22nd. This was the fourth Hole In One this week, with the Club hoping for a fifth on Friday, as a Car is up for the prize if players get a hole in one on the 4th or 27th Holes today, courtesy of Bega Valley Motors. The Sapphire Coast Week of Golf is in its 33rd year and is one of the countries biggest weeks of golf, in its hey day attracting 1200 players to the lovely resort tourist town of Merimbula.
