Action underway on Bribie Island

A fierce battle is set to play out in the Queensland sun as the Australian Men’sSenior Amateur Championship set to get underway at Bribie Island Golf Club. A host of Australia s finest senior amateurs will take to the course with defending champion Stefan Albinski out to maintain his hold on the Kerry Packer Memorial Trophy. Among those in contention is Alex Cleave- hoping to go one better than last year after his runner-up finish to Albinski at Royal Perth Golf Club. Former champions Denis Dale and Rick Oliver lead a solid contingent from NSW with Brian Sams also in the hunt for victory. Dale, Oliver and Sams were members of the winning team at the Asia Pacific Golf Confederation Senior Amateur Championship last year. Three time champion Tony Gresham will also be a front-runner for success over the 54-hole Stroke Play championship. Following the lines of the original sand dunes, the course will be a magnificent test for the entire field. The championship will commence with the opening round on Tuesday.
