All set for Australian Men’s Senior Amateur

The final field is set for the Australian Men’sSenior Amateur Championship at Royal Queensland Golf Club in Brisbane which runs from 3-5 September. Three-time winner and number one ranked player on the Australian Senior Ranking System, Stefan Albinski (NSW), will be hoping to claim a fourth title, however he is sure to face strong competition with defending champion Sam Christie (Qld) returning to defend his title on home soil. A number of other top ranked senior players will also be contenders with Denis Dale (NSW), Roy Vandersluis (NSW) and local Peter King (Qld) all returning to play. New Zealander Rodney Barltrop who won the event 2004, 2005 and 2009 is sure to provide to some fierce cross-Tasman competition while former NSW State representative Robert Payne who has just joined the senior ranks will also be in the mix. The event is in its 33rd year, having been played since 1981, and with the winner claiming the Kerry Packer Trophy, it is Australia s premier men’s senior event. It is played over 54-holes stroke play, concluding with a Presentation Reception on the Thursday afternoon.
