Allenby shares lead

Robert Allenby has fired a two-under par 68 to move into a share of the lead at the conclusion of day two of the Honda Classic in Florida. Eyeing a fifth top-ten PGA Tour finish for 2007, the Aussie came into the second round in a share of third after an up and down first round of 67. Allenbys mixed performance of three bogeys and five birdies was enough to give him a share of the lead and he now sits with overnight leader Charlie Wi two shots clear. Allenby had a mixed front nine with birdies at four and nine and a bogey on seven. But as he looked to be gathering momentum, Allenby had a horror start after the turn bogeying ten and eleven. But the Aussie regrouped birdying 13, 15 and 17 to go to the clubhouse at two under the card. Wi was on an even par round coming into the back nine before a triple bogey on 11 put him three over for the round. But like Allenby, Wi rallied, birdying four of the next five holes to finish the round with an even par 70. Americans Will MacKenzie and Steve Stricker share third spot after rounds of 69 while Swedes Daniel Chopra and Mathias Gronberg along with American Joe Ogilvie are tied for fourth. Other Aussies still in contention are Peter Lonard whose second round 69 puts him at even after two rounds and Jarrod Lyle is also at even par. Gavin Coles is a shot further back.
