Victorian Robert Allenby has won his second Australian Open, taking out the 2005 title at Moonah Links by one shot. Severely hampered by a nerve problem in the finger of his right hand, Allenby limped around the course, shooting a final round five over par 77. He finished four under the card on 284 to clinch the crown by one shot from Queenslander John Senden, West Australian Nick O Hern and Paul Sheehan from New South Wales. Allenby, who won the 1994 Open, struggled with his hand injury dropping four shots over the front nine and bogeying the 16th and 17th holes before claiming the win with a par five at the last. Only seven players from the field finished under the card. Tasmanian Mathew Goggin and former dual champion Aaron Baddeley tied for fifth spot at two under the card while Victorian Martin Doyle was seventh at one under par.
