The 25-year old who turned professional in 2006 after representing Australia at the World Cup Amateur Team Championship, had only returned to Australia three days ago after completing her rookie year on the Ladies European Tour. Her round  on the magnificently conditioned Mollymook Hilltop golf course was the only score under par, as most players struggled with the treacherous greens.

“I came here with no expectations but was really just looking forward to playing at home. I love the Club Car Series events and feel so comfortable playing in Australia. I am so happy to win my first event – I have never won anything significant, even as an amateur,” said Combes. “I made the Australia team for World Cup and Tasman Cup but that was through finishing runner-up at a lot of state events”

Combes recorded four birdies and two bogeys in her round and said her putting was very solid on the greens, which she described as “the best conditioned I have played on all year.”

Former Australian amateur champion Marousa Polias and last year&aposs Mollymook runner-up Frances Bondad, shared second place at even par 73.

Bondad added to her winnings when she won the Milton-Ulladulla Times nearest the pin shootout which was played from 97 metres on the par-three 9th hole. Bondad collected $500 for her shot which finished 191 centimetres from the pin.

The eight event Club Car Series continues next week at the St Georges Basin Country Club Pro-Am where the ALPG members will tee it up with the NSW PGA professionals in the joint venture which offers a $20,000 purse to both fields.
