Rolex World No.19 Katherine Hull held on to win the Moss Vale Golf Club Ladies Classic presented by Corban Automotive by two shots on an exciting final day. Hull finished 36 holes of bogey-free golf at 11-under par South Australia’s Stephanie Na finishing runner-up at 9-under par after posting a final hole birdie to apply the pressure to Hull. In third place, a further two shots back was fellow-LPGA player, Sarah-Jane Smith.

Hull had begun the final day with a one-shot cushion over Sarah Nicholson and Na and there was an air of excitement amongst the crowd with another 10 players within 4 shots of the lead. It was going to take something special to beat Hull whose early-season form is probably above what even she expects.

Hull began steadily with four straight pars before an immaculate wedge to the short par-3 5th hole set up her first birdie of the day. She followed that with a tap-in birdie at the 7th before a third birdie at the par-5 9th hole. This left her at 9-under par with Na also posting 3-under for the front nine.

With long delays on the back nine, both players stood on the 10th tee knowing the state of play. After they both made par, Na was the first to crack with a disappointing bogey at the par-5 11th left her two behind, while Hull continued her stellar form with pars until a telling birdie at the 14th, a hole that Na had 3-putted for bogey to hand the advantage back to Hull.

At that stage the lead was three shots an d it looked like a comfortable win for Hull. It didn’t turn out that way as Na made birdie at the 16th hole to reduce the lead to two. She followed that up with a birdie at the 18th to pull within one shot. However, it wasn’t enough as Hull, knowing the scores up ahead sealed victory with a shot to 5-feet on the par-3 17th and drained the putt. It meant she walked down the last with a two-shot lead where she managed a solid par for the two-shot victory.

After her round when asked about her win, she said, “It’s great to play in these events because of the social aspect and the comaraderie between the Pro&aposs and the Amateurs. I miss that in the serious business of Tour golf. It&aposs always nice to go bogey-free for 36 holes and I&aposm happy that my putting over the last two days was as good as it was late last season.".”
