ALPG - KEMP CAPTURES CLUB CAR SERIES IN NZ

New South Wales Sarah Kemp has taken out the 2009-2010 Club Car Series. Kemp&aposs runner-up finish at the final event, the Pegasus New Zealand Women’s Open gave her maximum points to take out the Series over the Bing Lee/Samsung NSW Women’s Open winner Sarah Oh.

Going into the final event where double points were on offer for those eligible, the consistent Queenslander Sarah-Jane Smith lead by only 10 points on 2180 points over New South Wales Sarah Oh. Kemp was third on 2030 points, with NSW’s Rachel Bailey on 1815, Qld’s Tamara Beckett 1480, with West Australian Kristie Smith on 1320.

The 24-year old’s second place finish behind Laura Davies saw her finish the Series on 3230 points, 700 points clear of the pack. For her efforts she took home the $5,000 winning cheque provided by Club Car. Kemp was very happy to win the Series “I’m really honoured to win this Club Car Series, it’s a series based on consistency and I’m proud that I was able to do that”.

Kemp, won two of the Club Car Series events, the Lady Anne Funerals ALPG Pro-am and the Xstrata Coal Branxton Pro-am and also recorded 3rd, 4th and 6th place finishes in other events in the Series.

Kemp also said during the presentation at Pegasus Golf Course, “I really want to thank Club Car, and in particular Kevin Gates, they have been a great supporter of women’s golf, all of us players really appreciate what they have done for us. This Series certainly adds a new dimension to the summer series and all the players enjoy playing in it”.

Sydney’s Sarah Oh&aposs final round of 3-under par during the NZ Women’s Open saw her pass Sarah-Jane Smith and regulate Smith to third place. Oh picked up a cheque for $3,000, while Smith took home $2,000. Kristie Smith finished fourth and picked up $1,000. Queenland’s Tamara Beckett and NSW based Bailey finished fifth and sixth respectively and took home cheques for $500.
