With a 4-under par 69, defending champion Sarah Kemp again prevailed at the Lady Anne Funerals ALPG Pro-Am; this year after a two-hole playoff with Sarah Oh. Both players capped off fine seasons respectively finishing 4th and 5th in the season-long Club Car Series. In third place was Canadian Jessica Shepley who finished off her visit to Australia with a fine round of 2-under par 71.

Both Oh and Kemp played in the afternoon while Shepley set the pace in the morning. Kemp said she, “took advantage of the par-5’s” completing the five holes in 4-under par and it was here she made her score. She added birdies on the 2nd, 8th and 15th holes but struggled with the par-3’s with bogeys on the 7th, 12th and 17th holes.

Meanwhile, Oh made her score on the front nine with four birdies and five pars while notching a single birdie and a bogey on the back. With scores level the players headed back down the par-4 1st hole where both players hit good drives, however Kemp was just off the fairway in the rough and in a heavy lie. Oh played first and left herself 12-feet downhill for birdie while Kemp got the club caught in the heavy stuff and pulled it left into the greenside bunker. From a difficult lie she gave herself a chance from 8-feet. Oh putted first leaving it short but still putting the pressure on Kemp, who rolled in a tough putt over a bumpy line to force an extra hole.

Moving to the 9th hole, both players found the fairway before leaving their second shots just short of the green. It was then up to who could get up-and-down. In the end, both players hit “average” chip shots but it was Kemp who rolled in her 10-foot downhiller for the win. Commenting on the playoff afterwards, she said, “I just putted for my life on those two holes. They were two pretty good putts under the circumstances. It’s always good to defend any title so it has been a good day.”

Kemp also moved from 11th to 4th in the Club Car Series, picking up $1,500 in the season-long series which was won by Katherine Hull.
