ALPG MOURNS PASSING OF FIONA PIKE

ALPG Member Fiona Pike passed away today, 19 March, following a long illness.

rnFiona was highly respected in the golf industry and well known to many in the world of professional golf, having competed as a member of the ALPG, LPGA and Ladies European Tours, since turning professional in 1995. Her career highlights included one ALPG Tour victory, four Top-3 finishes on the Ladies European Tour (including T3 at 1999 Women’s British Open) and four Top-15 finishes on the LPGA.

rnFiona was diagnosed with a melanoma in 2005 after retiring from her 13-year professional golfing career. The following year, as team coach, she led the South Australian amateur team to their first victory in 70 years at the 2006 Gladys Hay Memorial Interstate series. In 2008 she launched the Fiona Pike Skin Cancer Awareness campaign which through the South Australian Cancer Council, promotes awareness of the dangers of excessive sun exposure.
