ALPG Tour – ARTHUR DOUBLES UP AT RYDE-PARRAMATTA

(29 November 2011 – West Ryde, NSW)

Queenslander Bree Arthur has captured her second tournament win in five days with a one-stroke victory at the Lady-Anne Funerals ALPG Pro-Am. Played at the magnificent Ryde-Parramatta Golf Club, Arthur had a nervous wait after playing in the morning field. With the wind picking up, her score of 5-under par 68 was always going to be more than competitive and it turned out a winning score, with Frances Bondad in the runner-up spot after her round of 4-under par 69. Two players finished in a tie for third; Sarah-Jane Smith from Queensland and Rachel Bailey from NSW.

Arthur&aposs score was the best of the morning group by five shots. She had started on the 9th hole and like her win at Castle Hill Country Club on Friday, got off to a good start with par, birdie, birdie. She consolidated that with four pars through the tough stretch of par-4&aposs, 13 through 16, sandwiched by pars on the par-3&aposs 12 and 17. Through nine holes she was 2-under par and looking to reap the benefits of a good first nine holes.

A disappointing bogey on the 18th hole (her 10th) saw her refocus and she picked up four birdies in her next six holes to reach the 5-under mark. From there it was a case of finishing solidly, which she did with two pars to post an excellent score with the wind strengthening.

The afternoon field was tipped to produce the winner but only Bondad got close, posting four birdies, an eagle and two bogeys for her round of 4-under par 69. She was closely followed by Smith and Bailey, while Joanne Mills and rookie Katelyn Must finished in a tie for 5th.

Arthur commented that the par-5&aposs were the key to her round, saying, "I reached all the par-5&aposs in two today except 18. They were certainly my friend today. I&aposd gotten off to a good start and knew there was a good score there if I could play the par-5&aposs well. Apart from 18, I birdied the other four so that kept the score ticking along."

She also mentioned her "support crew" with caddy Tristan and manager Peter Coss there with her all day, commenting, "Tristan was great again today and I also had three lovely lady members that allowed me to relax and just enjoy the day."
