Jarryd Felton's great run of form is showing no sign of slowing with an opening round 65 at the Nanshan NSW PGA Championships at the Riverside Oaks Golf Resort.
Teeing off on the 10th, the Gosnells member raced out to be 2-under through the opening three holes and 3-under at the turn.
A bogey on the par-4 3rd may have stalled Felton in the middle of his round, but he closed by going 4-under in the final 4 holes, including an eagle on the par-5 ninth.
"I was kinda blocked out on the right side of the fairway" said Felton about the last hole, "but I managed to hit my approach to six foot and sink the putt, so it was a great way to finish."
Felton has six national ranking amateur titles under his belt, but his sights are squarely on adding a professional win to his growing list of achievements.
"You can win as many amateur tournaments as you can, but it's winning the professional ones that count.
From the practise rounds I knew there was going to be some low rounds out there, so being able to shoot one was good."
Despite his 6-under 65, Felton is still two back of leader Lincoln Tighe of NSW on 8-under.
Tighe's putter ran hot with just 24 putts for his round, and he holds a two shot lead over Felton on the rest of the field heading into Round 2.
